Did you ever hear of Albert Payson Terhune?

He was a professional collie breeder in the 1900s at his estate called The Place, Sunnybank, in Pompton Lakes, NJ.   And just like Andrew Vachss, who knew he could reach FAR more people about his crusade by writing stories about what people never realize happens every day (child trafficking), Albert Payson Terhune started writing dog stories, the first most notable being Lad, a Dog.  

Y'know, I'll never forget the day my parents took me to Sunnybank (which nowadays is a national park) and I could actually look up on the memorials for Lad, Bruce, Treve, Grey Dawn, and others.  Stuff like that... it gets you right here, wouldn't you agree?

I forgot how many kids stories Albert Payson Terhune wrote, but it was dozens and dozens and they sure helped with awareness of his purebred show collies!   If you've never read any of them, I highly encourage you to do so - the man wrote like the angels sing.

And that talent was almost solely directed to kids stories!
